Premier Minor League Semi-Final

St. Nicks 2-12 Carbery Rangers 0-11

15th February 2003

On Saturday last in Ballygarvan the 2000 Premier Minor league semi-final replay with Carbery Rangers was played and it was an ideal opening game for this years Under 21 team. It was a lively contest throughout and the team played exceptionally well. Nick's were in the lead for most of the game and at half time it was 1-6 to 0-5, the goal scored by Noel ODonovan after a lovely move involving Declan Hourihan and Eoghan Geaney. in the second half Carbery piled on the pressure but the defence were outstanding particularly Ben Murphy, Liam Leahy and Gavin Moylan while Peter Cuthbert was faultless in goal. A second goal scored by David Goggin and some fine points by John Kearney and Kevin Herlihy saw Nick's emerge winners by 2-12 to 0-11 and will now play Carrigaline in the Final. Garham Callinan had a good hour in midfield doing very well on the highly rated Kevin Mc Mahon while Keith Mc Carthy and Conor o Keeffe also impressed.
